Ely, in Cambridgeshire, is a Cathedral City, which can trace its history back to 673 a.d. Recent evidence can trace the use of this area back to the iron age, with signs of Roman occupation along the way. Ely is dominated by the Ely Cathedral, easily visible as one approaches the city through the fen lands.
My (working) visit to Ely covered a week in May 2006. typically the English weather was not great for photography, and much of the Cathedral area was dominated by a large white marquee.
