Situate on the Mazowe River North of Harare, Hippo Pools is in the Umfurudzi Safari Area. While the area has no large predators, thre are many buck of various kinds, and, of course, Hippopotamus are found in the river itself.
A weir has been built in the river, providing a broad expanse of water in front of the camp. There is ample space for canoeing and fishing, with some reasonable sized Tiger fish and Bream having been taken out ogf the river. Along the river bank, and for a distance inland, there are marked paths for day walks, while 4x4 users will find some interesting scenic drives.
NOTE: Current information is that the Hippo Pools camp is no longer operating due to circumstances in Zimbabwe.
